Matt Liotine
Procurement Instructor
Dr. Matt Liotine is a Clinical Associate Professor of Information and Decision Science at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He holds a PhD, a master of science, and a master of arts in engineering from Princeton’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, and a master of science in engineering from The Polytechnic Institute of New York University. He holds a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt from the American Society for Quality, a Certified Business Continuity Planner from the Disaster Recovery Institute International, and an Project Management Certificate from IBM. He has won teaching awards from the University of Illinois-Chicago, the Commitment to Excellence Award from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, and the Superior Accomplishment Award from the US Navy.
Prior to teaching, Matt held a variety positions at several technological and industrial companies, such as BLR Research, Alcatel-Lucent, AT&T Bell Laboratories, and Union Carbide. While at AT&T, he won the Network Architecture Award and the Quality Award.
In 2003, he published Mission-Critical Network Planning, a textbook on network security examining the difficult nature of network continuity in the light of technological advancements, such as the internet.
Outside of data analysis and risk management, Matt is also an accomplished open water diver, holding a certificate from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors and a US Coast Guard Auxiliary Certification.
