Gillian Downey
Project Management and Intercultural Communications Instructor
Gillian Downey is the Cloud Team Program Manager at Ubiquiti Networks in San Jose, California. She is an experienced IT manager with fifteen years of experience in product development and project management working with teams across the globe.
Gillian received a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Roosevelt University. In addition to her degree, she has certifications in technology project management, Six Sigma statistical analysis and management, paralegal studies, and business information from Roosevelt and Loyola Universities.
She has worked with people from around the world in various fields including music, theatre, law, media technology, marketing and technology project and product management. Her past projects include work with mobile application development, database security, media marketing, data warehousing, digital reporting and most recently in wireless internet hardware ‘cloud’ enablement. As a project manager she worked on traditional waterfall and various agile methodologies that support scrum team alignment, fast prototyping and continuous integration in the cloud.
Her past employers include AbbVie, a biopharmaceutical company, Leapfrog Online, a national media marketer and Bank of America. She currently works at a Silicon Valley company, Ubiquiti Networks, that has moved from a technology startup to a publicly traded firm. She manages the initial product launch of cloudbased software with coworkers based in Poland, Lithuania, the UK, Argentina, Taiwan, Canada and the US.
All of these experiences make her a valuable part of the Seagull team where she teaches courses in Project Management.
