Event Planning Intern
OUR MISSION:
The Seagull Institute is an International Education Company that specializes in organizing customized academic programs, semesters, internships and excursions for French universities as well as for students who want to study abroad. Our goal is to showcase the American entrepreneurial spirit to these students through an array of classes, company visits, and networking events. Lastly, we want our students to discover Chicago’s amazing culture through volunteer opportunities and other local events.
WHO WE’RE SEEKING:
We are currently searching for an Event Planning Intern who is ambitious and ready to grow with us as we continue to expand our business by providing lasting educational and personal experiences for international students who are visiting our great city. The intern that we seek has the entrepreneurial spirit while personifying a “Can Do Attitude” that is absolutely contagious. If you’re a dedicated student who is goal-driven, a consummate team player, strongly values customer satisfaction, and is keen on obtaining critical field experience then we’re interested in you!

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:
Event Coordination- Assist with the planning and coordination of our ongoing educational programs.
- Work with the Program Coordinator and Program Director to manage and plan student itineraries such as classes, company excursions, and extracurricular activities before and during their stay in Chicago
- Reach out to new and existing companies regarding program involvement
- Serve as point of contact and manage relationships with vendors, teachers, university and company contacts
- Facilitate group activities and serve as the Seagull Institute representative during multiple occasions
- Assist with other areas of need
Marketing Coordination: Assist with the marketing and communications at Seagull Institute.
- Research and draft copy for e-Newsletters and various other marketing materials
- Assist with social media posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Highly collaborative, goal driven, mature, and creative
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with students
- Punctual and dependable
- Ability to manage projects independently
- Capability to work calm under pressure
- Willing to “wear many different hats” and handle multiple projects
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Documents
- Appreciation and sensitivity to other cultures
- A background or interest in education, entrepreneurialism, and/or event management with a minimum GPA of 3.0 is ideal
DETAILS:
- Start Date: Immediate
- Length of service: 5-6 months (Flexible)
- Location: Chicago Loop, with occasional travel around metropolitan area for company visits, etc.
- Hours: 20-40 hours/week
- Some evening and weekend activities
