The FounderJonathan Broutin (braw-tin) is a French national who has called Chicago home for the past 11 years. As a child, Broutin lived in Picardy, a small village in the northern region of France.
Growing up, Jonathan loved to travel. As the son of a flight attendant, he had the opportunity to explore the world with his family. He visited America several times as a child, and stayed in Chicago for three weeks when he was 9 years old. His early travels allowed him to grow in an international environment and discover many countries in Asia, Africa and North America. Jonathan graduated in 2001 from the University of Paris II with master’s degrees in Marketing and Communications. After receiving his degrees, he moved to Montreal, Canada where he worked for three years in the advertising industry. |
In 2006, Jonathan accepted an event management position with the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, fulfilling his lifelong goal of working with the world-renowned organization. While working at the Marathon, Jonathan was an internal part of a close-knit team that annually hosted more than 45,000 runners. Jonathan was responsible for directing the organization's international and community relations. He also served as volunteer manager, developing strategies to recruit, train and manage over 12,000 volunteers each year.
Despite Jonathan's successes in Chicago, he felt unsatisfied. He wanted to give students in France the opportunity to experience the rich culture of Chicago. He wanted to teach others and share with them the international business perspective he had acquired throughout his work across the globe.
Thus in 2011, Seagull Institute was born. Seagull gives students the opportunity to network in Chicago and Paris while learning about Marketing, Sports Management, and International Business practices. This unique experience provides a life-changing travel opportunity, as well as the groundwork for students to grow as professionals in an international business environment.
Today, Jonathan continues to expand his company while taking on various projects. He often lectures at American and French universities about the importance of leadership in the professional world. In 2012, he had the opportunity to teach at Columbia College in Chicago for a full semester. Additionally, Jonathan works as a business coach, helping entrepreneurs, small-business owners and business students develop as professionals.
Jonathan resides in Chicago with his wife Delphine, his son Noah, and daughter Ella.
